Parades, festivals and 5Ks

42nd annual 2017 St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Each year the Irish Culture Club of Delaware organizes this parade that takes place on Saturday, March 11, at noon in Wilmington. The parade will begin northbound on 4th & King streets and proceed to 14th Street. The event ends with a traditional Irish Hooley in the parking at 14th and King. Highlights include $20* beer mugs and free refills until 4 p.m.

13th annual Turners Irish Festival

Following the 42nd Annual St Patrick’s Day parade on Saturday, March 11, the American Turners of Delaware will hold its 13th annual Irish Festival. The festival is a well-established family fun event that celebrates Irish culture with live music, Irish dancers, Irish singers, transportation, food, beverages and crafts. Admission is $5 per person (3 and under are free with paying adult). An optional all-inclusive package is available for $15 per person, ages 15-plus. Ages 4-14 pay $10 for the all-inclusive option.

10th annual Milton St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The parade takes place in historic downtown Milton on Sunday, March 12 at 2 p.m.  All proceeds benefit Milton Fire Department, Milton Chamber of Commerce and Glady Wilkins Seeding the Future Scholarship Fund. The parade will start on Atlantic Avenue and end at Milton Elementary School. After the parade, head to 105 Union St. and catch live bands and drink specials at Irish Eyes Pub & Restaurant.

 

2017 Downtown Dover St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival

The nonprofit Downtown Dover Partnership encourages you to bring out your green costumes, hats, wigs and shirts and join its annual parade on March 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Loockerman Way Plaza. The event will include food trucks, vendors, face painting, a Pot of Gold Scavenger Hunt, kids activities and live entertainment. The parade will begin at 1 p.m. at the Outlook at the Duncan Center, run east down Loockerman Street and end at Federal Street.

 

Lucky Leprechaun 5K

Before you start drinking green beer or drinks, get some exercise in by participating in the Lucky Leprechaun 5K. Kickoff starts at 11 a.m. before the annual Milton St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 12. Participants will start and finish at the Irish Eyes Pub & Restaurant, where there will be green beer and bloody Marys for those 21 and older. There is a $35 pre registration fee ($40 on the day of the event).

 

Bar/pub crawls

27th annual St. Paddy’s Day Loop & Shamrock Shuttle

Delaware’s largest St. Patrick’s Day party takes place March 11 from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. The City Loop includes 13 bars and clubs around Wilmington, Trolley Square and the Riverfront. One $10 cover charge gains entry to all participating venues and access to the shamrock shuttle. Be sure to show your Irish spirit and wear your St. Paddy’s Day inspired clothing.

 

The Starboard Opening Weekend

One of the most anticipated parties of the season happens March 16-20 in Dewey Beach. The party begins on Thursday and ends on Monday, with live bands, drink specials and lots of fun the whole weekend. Organizers advise to book your hotel rooms now. Also during opening weekend, stop by Starboard Raw and grab a VIP card.

 

7th annual Toasting the Town: St Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl

On St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, at 5 p.m., Downtown Milford Inc. will host the 7th annual Toasting the Town. This year’s Pub Crawl will feature six businesses, two restaurants and five visiting breweries and distilleries from 5-9 p.m. During the event attendees will have the chance to sample unique food and drinks. The event encourages participants to wear an official Pub Crawl shirt and walk through downtown Milford. Shirts ($16 to $21) can be purchased at the DMI office at 207 S. Walnut St. Shirts went on sale Feb. 21 and will be available until sold out.
