In middle school, Chris deWit’s woodworking was just a hobby. Now the New Castle-based furniture designer says his hobby has inspired him to turn his woodworking into a successful business that can “deWit all.”
With a range of projects from custom-designed dining room tables to kitchen cabinets, fine jewelry boxes to complete solid mahogany libraries, and entertainment centers to outdoor decks, Dewitall Design specializes in making each piece fit the customer’s needs.
“Every job is completely different from the next,” deWit says.
As of late, the multi-tasking designer, carpenter and dad says some of his favorite projects have been toddler and baby furniture, like the diesel train-inspired bed and nightstand he built for his son. 
Though his style is dictated by a client’s desires, he enjoys creating the more whimsical, “Dr. Seuss-ish” furniture for kids.
Some of his days are cut short so he can do something he really enjoys: spend time with his son. Projects can take anywhere from a week to six weeks, d
epending on the scale. No project is too small or too big, but be prepared to pay for quality. Prices range from $400 for a small piece to $20,000 for a full library or closet.
And though deWit assures all his furniture is custom-designed, he won’t be offended if you want him to recreate a Pottery Barn piece. He’ll just match it to your style. It’s all part of the craft.
“I just love taking a piece of raw wood and turning it into something,” he says, “something unique.”
