When cancer touches a family, convenience and continuity become nearly as important as cutting-edge medicine. That belief guided Medical Oncology Hematology Consultants (MOHC) to open a brand-new office in Middletown, thereby extending expert cancer and blood disorder care to one of Delaware’s fastest-growing regions.
A Welcoming Site — Closer to Home
The Middletown facility was designed to evoke a sense of calm and personal warmth. “It’s a smaller site, away from the big hospital campus, so it feels more welcoming,” says Executive Director Jennifer Pugh, DNP, MSN, APRN, AOCNP, MBA. Fifteen infusion chairs, spacious exam rooms, and easy parking allow patients to focus on healing, not logistics. The practice also added seven new physicians and advanced practitioners, so same-week appointments and shorter wait times are now the norm.
Dr. Jamal Misleh, MD, FACP, a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist and the practice president of MOHC, shared that enthusiasm when he said: “We are excited to have expanded our footprint to Middletown and look forward to bringing innovative patient-centered oncology care and clinical research to the community.”
Seamless, All-in-One Care
Patients can see their chosen provider in either Newark or Middletown, as the entire team rotates between the two sites and shares a single electronic medical record. As Jennifer puts it, “Any service they may need is all in one place.” MOHC provides comprehensive care across all disease specialties, including breast, lung, gastrointestinal cancers, and complex hematology.
A clinical health psychologist based in the office collaborates closely with oncology nurses and telephone triage staff to support patients’ emotional and mental well-being. If a patient calls after hours, a provider answers; if someone walks in distressed, the psychologist is just steps away. What’s more, IV fluids, antibiotics, and same-day acute visits often prevent emergency room trips, and telehealth keeps support just a click away.

A Legacy of Research, A Future of Hope
MOHC’s commitment to discovery remains strong. Enrollment in U.S. Oncology-Network clinical trials and a research partnership with ChristianaCare Cancer Research allow local access to the newest immunotherapies, targeted drugs, and breakthrough procedures such as CAR T-cell therapy and bone marrow transplantation. Patients who once had to travel to Philadelphia or Baltimore for treatment can now access advanced therapies close to home, supported by their family and community.
Deep Roots, Strong Collaborations
Many of MOHC’s physicians have trained or practiced in Delaware for years—they know the community because they’ve been a part of it for decades. That deep connection is evident in everything they do, from hosting free screening events to collaborating closely with local oncology groups and hospice organizations. They stay in direct contact with referring doctors, often by phone or text, so decisions can be made quickly, and everyone stays on the same page about what’s best for the patient.
Growing for Tomorrow
The leadership team plans to establish additional satellite clinics, expand supportive-care services, and implement ongoing technology upgrades, all guided by one principle: reducing barriers and enhancing comfort for patients and their families.
At the end of the day, they agree on one goal: to make it easier for people to get the care they need and feel supported every step of the way. With a welcoming new home in Middletown, seven fresh faces, and a strong commitment to research and community, Medical Oncology Hematology Consultants is showing that advanced cancer care can also be convenient — and deeply personal — for Delaware families.
