The Pilot School was founded in 1957 to provide an individualized, therapeutic learning environment for children with language-based learning differences. The mission continues today to uncover the unique educational challenges of each student, and to give each child the specific developmental tools, guidance, and attention needed to learn, achieve, and ultimately to feel comfortable and be successful in the academic environment that is most appropriate. The goal is to return children to regular education following approximately three to five years.

In November, 2016, Pilot moved to its new state-of-the-art facility built on 50 acres which adjoin more than 2,000 acres of federal, state, and city lands. The new campus is indeed a compelling, child-centered environment that integrates out-of-doors learning experiences in a building that itself encourages students to incorporate awareness of everything around them, from groundwater systems to woodlands and from movement to calm. Please call to schedule a visit and experience the Pilot difference.
