Tiers of joy

A spectacular pool and an inviting outdoor entertaining area for this northern Delaware home was created when Wallace Landscape Associates situated the pool into a hillside to create a dramatic multi-level space connected by meandering stone slab steps. Whimsical fountains and stone details, consistent with the tone of the residence, add Old World charm to the state-of-the-art pool. Accent lighting highlights the stonework and creates spectacular views of the pool in every season. Paving materials, delicately proportioned custom fencing, a wrought-iron gate and colorful planting blend to complement the space.

Pooling their natural resources

Wallace Landscape Associates positioned this vanishing-edge pool, nestled into a hillside, away from the dwelling to create a separate area for outdoor enjoyment and to take advantage of the beautiful bucolic setting. The strong axial relationship of the pool and pool house-conservatory imposes a sense of order on nature. This space is embellished by bluestone paving, areas for entertaining and a planting palette that softens the edges. The plants were selected and combined to provide a succession of seasonal bloom and attractive foliage and texture.
