Family room re-do

Lisa O’Bryan Design transformed this once dark and dated family room by adding custom cabinetry around the must-have big-screen TV that features plenty of storage, display space and even a firewood nook. An authentic reclaimed wood mantel created by Yorklyn Home tops off the original stone fireplace.

A sense of history

The gorgeous works of Sir Edwin Lutyens—a British architect known for his visionary adaptations of traditional architectural styles to meet the demands of his time—inspired the design of this home by Period Architecture & Porter Construction. Steep roof pitches and peaked gables create bold lines that give this home a manifest presence that is both reinforced and softened by the natural material palette. Upon entering the home, a delicately composed stair hall features a custom newel post, wrought iron railing and pendant light fixture. The multi-story wall of windows casts brilliant natural light across the entirety of the entrance and stairwell. In the family room, a custom built-in hides the television to allow the limestone fireplace and arched window bay with inviting seating nook to take center stage.
