3. Milkshake Mania/Delaware State Milkshake Competition
Monday, June 11, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Forget plain vanilla. Sample more than 10 wild and whacky milkshake creations at this lip-smacking event, which benefits the Dewey Artist Collaborative.
Held at the Rehoboth bandstand on Rehoboth Avenue, the contest will feature concoctions by Mug & Spoon, Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, Rehoboth Ale House, a(MUSE.), Indigo, The Ice Cream Store, Vanderwende Farm Creamery, Hopkins Farm Creamery, Matt’s Fish Camp, Big Fish Grill and Evans Farms. Pay $15 (in advance or at the door), make the circuit and cast your ballot. DJ Jimmy Young will spin tunes as you bid on ceramic cows painted by local artists. If it rains, the event will be held at Big Chill Beach Club from 4 to 8 p.m. on the same day.
Mug & Spoon’s prize-winning Blackout Milkshake(Makes one 18–20-ounce milkshake.) Ingredients:
Directions: Blend milk, Oreos and ice cream; pour into a glass or mug. (Mug & Spoon pours the mixture into a 16-ounce mug so that it overflows.) Garnish with waffle cone or pizzelle cookie pieces. Warm a chocolate-chip brownie for 20–30 seconds; add it to the top of the milkshake. Garnish with whipped cream and M&Ms. Put a straw through one Reese’s cup and use the other for a garnish. Drizzle with lots of Hershey’s syrup. |
