Welcome to Delaware Today’s arts blog, the spot to dish on the many cultural opportunities available to Delaware audiences. We’ll cover as many genres as possible, and note great events offered by organizations large and small, in all three counties.
There’s just one place to be on New Year’s Eve: at The Grand Opera House, listening to the Delaware Symphony Orchestra.
For the very reasonable price range of $55-75, patrons can enjoy “Venice to Vienna,” conducted by Maestro David Amado. The first half of the performance includes a sober selection of Italian favorites. But during intermission, staffers will fill your flutes with free champagne, then hand out noisemakers. That makes for a not-so-sober Part II, which includes traditional Strauss waltzes and polkas. The show starts at 7:30p.m. You’ll be out early enough to catch the fireworks on Rodney Square.
Consider this your chance to start 2010 with a toot and a bang. That’s coda for “great time.”
