A Look at Delaware Art Museum’s ‘Miami Vice’ Cocktail Party

The Delaware Art Museum brought Miami Beach vibes to Wilmington for a flashy party and extravagant fundraising event.

The Delaware Art Museum hosted its third annual The Art of the Cocktail fundraising event on the evening of Saturday, April 26. This year’s “Miami Vice” theme lit up the museum with neon lights, bringing beachy vibes and ’80s hits to Wilmington.

Here’s a look at the evening’s events in photos.

When party guests arrived, they were greeted with a champagne wall, and the grand hall transformed into a Miami Beach night club. With a disco ball, plenty of neon lights, and palm trees throughout the museum, attendees found themselves in a scene straight out of “Miami Vice.”

Ensuring The Art of the Cocktail lived up to its name, “Miami Vice”-themed cocktails were flowing throughout the evening. Even the bartenders and catering staff were dressed on-theme, ensuring the experience was as immersive as possible.

An impressive food spread—complete with sliders, hummus and guacamole, and more—complemented the cocktail menu.

A silent auction featuring items from local businesses and organizations helped the fundraising efforts. Funds from the event will support the museum’s youth and educational programs throughout the year.

There was no shortage of entertainment throughout the evening. Wilmington’s DJ Hugh was spinning all the ’80s hits over the course of the night, and the dance floor was packed during the party.

There were plenty of ways for attendees to capture memories at the “Miami Vice”-themed cocktail party. Like previous parties, the museum had a caricature artist and a beach-themed photo booth complete with plenty of fun props. This year, the Delaware Art Museum made the addition of live fashion portraits, courtesy of Denise Fike. Party goers posed as the talented illustrator turned them into high-fashion models at impressive speeds.
