It’s not surprising that Beth Allen—founder and president of a do-it-yourself resource for women—would like to see more women in construction and trades.
“Women are just as capable as men with tools and home repair; it’s just that no one has ever told them so.” Allen, a licensed contractor and designer, teaches classes online and in person and contributes content to local media and social media platforms.
She unwinds doing home repair projects at home, where she can get creative. Allen runs the business soup to nuts and happily shares her story during speaking engagements. She also promotes Flush the Fear, a movement meant to empower women. On her website she describes it as “a sassy, poignant and cleansing message. It’s a movement about letting go of the fear, anxiety and negative crap … This universal tale of toilets and fear reminds us all that we deserve to feel happy, awesome and fulfilled.”
