Those who are familiar with “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” know that it isn’t about going to see the movie. It’s about the experience of having fun, laughing and making jokes with your friends. The cast of Frankie’s Midnight Runners is going to make the show even more fun with their special April Fools’ presentation of the film, which has been modified to catch the audience off guard. Head to Theatre N in Wilmington on Saturday, April 1, for a show to be enjoyed by first-timers and longtime fans of this classic movie. Veteran audience members can still expect the traditional participation and interactive props, while newcomers will enjoy an evening of laughter and surprises. Though the movie is not as shocking by today’s standards as it was when released in 1975, it does contain mature themes and tongue-in-cheek jokes. Those attending should be 17+ or accompanied by a guardian. Anyone intending to purchase beer or wine must be 21+ and show a valid ID.
Tickets are only $9 and may be purchased at the door, starting at 11 p.m., or in advance on the theatre’s website, theatren.com. (Scroll down to “Special Screenings.”) Frankie’s Midnight Runners is Delaware’s newest shadow cast. It is made up of veteran thespians who volunteer to keep the classic midnight show alive. With the movie playing on the big screen, members of the cast act out the show while audience members shout jokes and throw props of rice, toast and toilet paper into the air at coordinated times.
Theatre N is a 221-seat theater in a renovated 14-story building. It is known for showing first-run independent and foreign films. It is located on the second floor of the Nemours Building at 1007 N. Orange St., Wilmington. Parking can be found on 10th Street.
