Coworkers and friends describe Carrie Leishman, keynote speaker at the 2018 Women in Business Downstate Luncheon, as a passionate, fearless advocate for the food service industry. It’s this ambition and dedication that pushed her to take on the role of president and CEO of the Delaware Restaurant Association (DRA), an organization committed to educating and advocating for the industry.

In 2014 she founded the DRA Educational Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes outreach and education to students and underserved populations. Her ProStart culinary and management program reaches more than 3,000 students in high schools and the prison system. When she’s not working, she enjoys mentoring youths in the foster care system and teaching at the University of Delaware as an adjunct professor in the Hotel, Restaurant and Industrial Management Program. Leishman sees her role as keynote speaker as an accomplishment that honors her contributions to Delaware businesses.

“Women are the true rock stars of so many businesses,” she says. “As a past Women in Business honoree, I am proud to now have an opportunity to address an amazing group of passionate women professionals.”
