The famous firm of Currier & Ives is believed to have produced more than 8,000 different titled lithographic prints over the 64 years of its existence. In “The Legacy of Currier & Ives: Shaping the American Spirit” at the Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover, see how the self-described “Printmakers to the People” shifted from journalistic images to decorative works and, in its uniquely iconic style, documented the social trends and movements of the 19th century. The exhibition runs July 4-Oct. 27. (674-2111, biggsmuseum.org)
