Caffé Gelato, Pizza by Elizabeths and The Starboard will celebrate the return of dining in with a virtual concert featuring Ben LeRoy and the Snap.
As Delaware is slated to enter phase one of reopening on June 1, local businesses are working to open back up to the public while meeting current government regulations.
But for restaurants, it’s also time to celebrate and welcome new and old customers back to dine in.
For Caffé Gelato and Pizza by Elizabeths, along with The Starboard, this not only means serving up food and drinks, but also a live performance customers can enjoy from the comfort and security of their own homes before heading back out to dining rooms.
On Thursday, May 28 at 7 p.m., the restaurants, alongside sponsorship by Maker’s Mark, will host a live Zoom concert featuring Ben LeRoy and the Snap, offering meals and beverages for audience attendees to purchase via takeout. The show will include live feeds from the performing musicians and the three eateries.
“[Our performance is meant to] celebrate the fact that customers will be allowed to sit down in restaurants and be served in a safe and comfortable environment,” says Betsy LeRoy, co-owner of Pizza by Elizabeths, whose husband is a titular member of the aforementioned band. “I think that it will show people that they can enjoy all of our restaurants, even if it is from home, but also get them excited to be back inside and see their favorite servers.”

The three restaurants will offer special dinner menus on May 28 with a “ticket” to the concert free of charge with food purchase. A concert ticket can also be purchased for $10 without a meal.
Food orders must be in by 3 p.m. on May 28 to enjoy at home with the show.
The purpose of the concert, which features fellow acquaintances, friends, and communal members alike, strives to bring together people now lifted from some of the boundaries of quarantine, while also continuing to uphold necessary measures to ensure a safe, steady road to recovery.
While the restaurant owners are eager to celebrate the gradual re-opening of restaurants across the state, they are making sure that they are continuing to adapt to the changing times—while keeping up with providing new and old customers quality food and memorable experiences.
“We envision people getting pick-up from one of the three restaurants, taking it home, putting it on nice plates [and glasses], and then sitting down for dinner and then a show,” says LeRoy. “In these times, you can’t have a more fun, full evening than that.”
