Home on the range

This open concept kitchen by Evergreene Homes is the focal point of the main living space. Ten-foot ceilings provide ample space for cabinets, which are finished with custom crown moldings and polished chrome hardware. Granite countertops harmonize with the waterfall countertop on both sides of the island, which are complemented by an offset subway glass tile backsplash that reflects the under-cabinet lighting. Oak floors flow throughout the common areas. High-end appliances make the kitchen a chef’s dream.

Fancy facelift

The owner charged Brandywine Design with creating a streamlined, transitional, sophisticated yet comfortable space in this Wilmington Riverfront condo. The original cabinets were retained, but a new counter, backsplash, artwork and furniture was added.

Cooking up a storm

After Superstorm Sandy ruined this home, Design Center of Rehoboth renovated and improved the flow throughout. The old living room became the kitchen, where the family now cooks together easily amid a timeless, neutral palette.

Airy elegance

Waterbury Designs created this kitchen for a new house by Marra Homes.

Island retreat

The breezeway added to this home, renovated by Lindsay Construction, led to the kitchen, which allowed the family to update the room with an expanse of custom cabinetry and commercial appliances in an open concept. With a wall removed, the focal point became a massive island designed for food preparation and entertaining. Classic white cabinetry includes custom inserts, pullouts and dividers to keep things organized and ready for company or the preparation of everyday snacks. Pantry supplies and small appliances are shelved neatly behind double doors.

Outside the bread box

When redesigning this kitchen for a young family, everyone involved thought outside the box. A collection of modern art guided the selection of finishes and materials. Mitchell Associates included a professional cooking line and eating bar, a pizza oven and baking station, floor-to-ceiling pullout cabinetry, and integrated cabinets for glassware, cutlery and china serving the buffet counter and wet bar. The result was a flexible enclave for an ever-changing dinner scene.

White hot

This beach-house design by Marnie Homes features a striking tile backsplash, whitewashed floors and a custom barn door. Top-of-the-line appliances are integrated, and the island includes a wine sink. A grill deck outside extends the functionality.
