In the 1980s, working as a receptionist for a building management company with two commercial buildings, Cheryl Ecton constantly fielded complaints from tenants about the cleaning service, so she proposed her services to building owners. After working all day, Ecton changed from heels to sneakers and cleaned the buildings.
When she started getting requests from other building owners, in 1989 she established Elite Building Services, where she is CEO. A certified woman-owned business, Elite now offers all-inclusive janitorial, building maintenance and landscaping services.
“Don’t place boundaries on what you think you can accomplish,” Ecton says. “Success means you’re content with what you’re doing in life while constantly striving to achieve your own personal goals.”
