The Newark Arts Alliance is holding its annual Holiday Art Market until Dec. 31. Thirteen artists have booths set up in the NAA’s exhibition gallery with a variety of jewelry, pottery, scarves, fused glass, paintings, felted art, and more for sale, all perfect for holiday gift-giving. Shop Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.,with extended hours on until 6 p.m. on Thursdays. All sales will benefit the artists and the NAA. The Holiday Art Market artists are juried for selection.
This year’s artists are: Andrea Barrier (jewelry); Gail Bush (stained glass); Sarah Dressler (fiber art); Eleanor Fink (jewelry); Carole Fox (pottery); Catherine Houghton (painting); Karen Hornor (jewelry); Ingrid Jackoway (stained glass); Jo Miller (felted art and upcycled wool); Karen O’Lone Hahn (pottery, painting, and books); Wendy Shipman (handweaving); Jay Stutman (jewelry); and Mary Jane Tyrie (fused glass). Artful gifts are also available in the NAA’s gallery shop. Art by local artists is guaranteed to be unique and to make your loved ones feel special.
The NAA will hold a free Meet the Artists reception to celebrate the Holiday Art Market on Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. Light refreshments and drinks will be served. The event is free and open to the public. The Newark Arts Alliance, a locally supported nonprofit organization, is to provide the citizens of greater Newark with the opportunity to explore and display their creativity, as well as to participate in cultural events that build community. NAA presents several exhibitions each year to showcase art by local artists. The organization also offers a variety of art classes for students of all ages and skill levels, a popular children’s summer camp, and events dedicated to the visual, literary, and performing arts. Art is displayed and sold in the exhibition gallery and the gallery shop. NAA is in Market East Plaza at 276 E. Main St., Suite 102, Newark.
