Promises, Promises
“Burt & Me” is a musical comedy featuring the amazing music of the legendary duo of Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Through a special arrangement with Burt Bacharach and the estate of Hal David for the use of 20 of their most popular songs, this show tells the story of Joe and Lacey, two high school sweethearts who share a love of basketball and the music of Burt Bacharach. When their paths cross several years later, Joe tries to rekindle their romance with the help of the one and only Burt. The story is sweet, smart, and funny, with music that is full of nostalgia and great arrangements. Just in the first act, you’ll hear “Do You Know the Way to San Jose?” “Wishin’ and Hopin’,” “Promises, Promises” and more. DTC director Bud Martin scored a big hit with it when he was at Act II Playhouse. He’s sure to do the same here, too. See it at Delaware Theatre Company May 7-May 18. 594-1104, delawaretheatre.org
