Vet Fest—the new 22in22 organization’s outdoor music festival to honor Delaware’s veteran and active duty military while drawing a focus on the epidemic of soldier suicides—happens Saturday, May 7 in the Town of Whitehall’s Mapleton Square.
“We are very excited to layer the Vet Fest onto our 22in22 initiative,” says 22in22 creator Jacob DiSabatino, a senior at St. Mark’s High School. “This all started when local bands volunteered their time to help raise awareness and monies for our vets. From there, things took off. We added a Corvette display (Vettes for Vets), brought in the participation of Station 22 from Minquadale, garnered volunteers from the Delaware National Guard, and dozens from the local civilian and military communities.”
The lineup includes Dr. Harmonica & Rocket88, Concrete Charlie, Blue Cat Blues, Davey Dickens Jr. and the Troubadors, and Club Phred. Vet Fest organizers should arrive before 11 a.m. if they’d like to see the motorcycle parade. Live music begins at noon. Tickets are $15 for the general public and free to those with a military ID. The family of four maximum is $22.
