Discover Delaware’s Hidden Holiday Gems With This Passport

Delaware Tourism's Hidden Holiday Gems Passport reveals destinations to explore during the holidays and offers prizes for visiting all nine.

From Nov. 22 to Jan. 6, Delawareans can earn prizes for experiencing holiday magic throughout the state. Thanks to the Delaware Tourism Office, you can explore “Delaware’s Hidden Holiday Gems” with a new mobile passport program. Visit all nine holiday hotspots along the trail to experience the best of the season in Delaware—and earn prizes.

Delaware’s Hidden Holiday Gems is our office’s first short-term passport to be released,” says Jessica Welch, Director of the Delaware Tourism Office. “In light of the holiday season, we hope to attract tourists to each of Delaware’s three counties and experience what they have to offer during this special time of year.”

The Hidden Holiday Gems Trail features three destinations for each of Delaware’s three counties. In New Castle County, the trail spotlights Holidays at Hagley, Noël at Nemours and Holiday Magic at the Wilmington Riverfront. In Kent County, the three destinations are Zoo Lights and Christmas Nights at 3 Palms Zoo, Gift of Lights at Dover Motor Speedway and Ice Skating at Tre Sorelle Dolce. Sussex County’s Holiday Gems include Santa’s House on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk, Schellville’s Enchanted Winter Celebration and Lewes Lights.

Once you visit all three destinations in one county, you’ll receive a randomly selected prize. If you visit all nine locations on the Holiday Hidden Gems Trail, you’ll earn all three prizes.

“The goal of these trails is to not only promote local businesses but encourage travel to new places in Delaware that may be overlooked at first glance,” says Welch. “On the way to these attractions, tourists will see all that Delaware has to offer and explore someplace new.”
