How Gov. Jack Markell Does Firefly

He says he’s “here as a fan just like everybody else.”

“I’m here all weekend. [Thursday] I saw the Arkells, AlunaGeorge, Two Door Cinema, Oh Wonder, Jai Wolf. Looking forward to Mumford & Sons, Of Monsters and Men, maybe Ludacris. I’ll certainly see Earth, Wind & Fire.”

On Firefly’s impact on Delaware:
“It’s huge. It’s huge in terms of the economic development, but it’s also huge in terms of getting Delaware on the map for a group of younger people. We love it—and they love coming back here every year. And that’s only good for us.”

How a state governor does Firefly:
“I’m with everyone. We’re all music fans here. It’s great to show off Delaware, but I’m here as a fan just like everybody else.

I think the new Coffeehouse is phenomenal. Even the little stuff like the checkerboard in the artists’ lounge. Even though I got beat, it was fun. I think it gets better every year.”
