Many people like to think that nothing fun happens at the beach after Labor Day. Sure, the locals are enjoying a little more peace and quiet, but there’s still plenty of reasons to head down Route 1 for a little beach bliss.
4th Annual Shakespeare Festival
Thru. Sept. 21 • Lewes
Costumes on loan from the Folger Theatre of the Folger Shakespeare Library are on display inside the Lewes Public Library. The costumes were used in professional Shakespeare productions performed at the Folger, and include outfits for Queen Elizabeth I, Henry IV, Mary Stuart and Henry V.

Dewey Beach End of Season Party
Sept. 21 • Dewey Beach
Celebrate (or mourn) the end of summer with some fun on the beach between New Orleans and Dagsworthy streets. Indulge in food from your favorite Dewey Beach restaurants plus beer, wine and a crush bar. Ben Leroy and the Snap will perform from 5-6:30 p.m. and 19th Street Band will follow from 7-9 p.m. General admission is a $5 donation at the entrance. 4th Annual Empty Bowls Event
Sept. 22 • Rehoboth Beach
Head to the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center for the fourth annual Empty Bowls Event. Sponsored by the Rehoboth Beach Sunrise Rotary Club, Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. Enjoy soup, breads and desserts with hand-crafted bowls donated by area potters. Proceeds from Empty Bowls helps people struggling with hunger in and around our communities. Guests will enjoy soups from SoDel restaurants, live music from local artists and a silent auction. The first 400 people to purchase tickets will receive a handcrafted ceramic bowl.
The Rehoboth Beach Sunrise Rotary Club has partnered with the Harry K Foundation and Milton Community Food Pantry so that 100 percent of the proceeds from this event are distributed to fight hunger. Tickets are $45 for VIP Early Admission Seating (1-2:30 p.m.) and $25 for General Admission Seating (2:30-4 p.m.). Children under 12 eat free. Get more information and purchase tickets here.
