University of Delaware Football Season Opener

Friday, Sept. 4 – 7 p.m.

The Blue Hens kick off their season by hosting Jacksonville University. The parking lot opens at 3 p.m., and the University of Delaware is teaming up with the Sunday Breakfast Mission to help collect canned foods (fruits, vegetables, meats, soups, stews, etc.) to donate to this great cause.

108th Arden Fair

Saturday, Sept. 5 – 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

This yearly event is a favorite event among locals and for good reason–it packs over 120 vendors at the Arden Gild Club, as well as an Antiques Market, used books, plants, live music in the Shady Grove, food and drink, an art exhibit, and more. Admission and shuttle buses are free. Rain date for the event is Sunday, Sept. 6.

Pencader Heritage Museum’s Battlefield Memorial Ceremony

Saturday, Sept. 5 – 10 a.m.

Remember the sacrifices of the 20 Colonial soldiers who perished in 1777. The ceremony is free and open to the public.

Star Wars Science

Saturday, Sept. 5 – Noon-3 p.m.

Get ready to go on an intergalactic journey as the Empire invades the Delaware Children’s Museum for the second year in a row. Your favorite Star Wars characters from Garrison Carida of the 501st Legion will be shaking hands and posing for pictures while you investigate the science of sound and create out-of-this-world Star Wars sound effects and craft alien creatures out of recycled materials. The DCM is also holding a Star Wars Toy Drive to benefit future charitable missions. Please bring a new/unopened Star Wars toy that will be donated to children during upcoming Garrison Carida hospital visits throughout Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Made in America Festival

Sept. 5-6

Once more, the sounds of dozens of musicians will reverberate across Philadelphia. This outdoor festival, which has attracted nearly 80,000 attendees in previous years, will have plenty of food and beverages available for purchase. Acts will include Beyoncé, Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse and the Weeknd.
