Lisa LaMarche would like to see more women join her as a professional financial planner (only about 15 percent of advisers are women).
“Women are natural advisers, and in the financial arena can help people with the emotional, psychological and analytical aspects of this career,” she says. “Money can be a very emotional topic for all of us. It can wreak havoc on marriages, friends and business partners. Being able to understand and manage that side of the business is critical to helping people achieve their goals.”
LaMarche is president and senior financial adviser of Milestone Wealth Advisors, which provides financial planning and investment services to individuals and specializes in helping women through divorce or the loss of a loved one. “Life changes all the time,” she says. “Children are born, businesses are started and sold, kids go off to college, loved ones are lost. I’ve been through a lot of the same joys and challenges as my clients, and strive to understand their situation and provide a clear path for them to reach their goals.”
