For decades, Star Wars fans have claimed May 4 as a day to commemorate and celebrate the iconic universe created by George Lucas. The day was marked thanks to a convenient pun, “May the fourth be with you.” This year, it falls on a Sunday, which means plenty of local events throughout the weekend for Delaware Star Wars enthusiasts to enjoy.
The Force Awakens this weekend as fans of the iconic saga gather across the state to celebrate one of the most beloved franchises in the galaxy. Whether it’s competing in trivia and costume contests or sipping on cocktail specials, there are plenty of ways to celebrate. Put on your costume, grab your lightsaber, brush up on your knowledge, and head to one of these Star Wars hotspots this weekend.
May the Fourth Menu Specials at Taco Reho
Taco Reho’s annual May the Fourth celebration is back! Enjoy Star Wars-centric menu items, delicious themed cocktails, and a weekend spent with other Star Wars fans. Start your meal with an order of “Vader’s Taders,” cheddar cheese-filled tots topped with “darkside salsa,” salsa roja, black crema, pico, queso fresco, and fresh cilantro. Enjoy a “Hutt Dog” topped with neon relish, chipotle mayo, mustard seed salsa, and sport peppers. In the mood for a burger? Han’s Burger is made from a blend of beef and chorizo and topped with crispy bacon, fresh guacamole, cheddar cheese, and pickled jalapeños on a potato bun with a side of chips.

This quirky Wilmington mead and cider brewery is a haven for sci-fi enthusiasts. With pop-culture references throughout the menu and tasting room decor, a Star Wars fan’s first visit here will certainly not be their last!
Each year for May 4, the tasting room hosts a Star Wars-themed party with costumes, performances, mead cocktails, and more. This Saturday, “blockbuster” drag bingo will feature plenty of Star Wars-inspired performances, along with tributes to other film favorites. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite Star Wars-themed ensemble. Tickets are required for Saturday’s drag bingo, but walk-in customers can enjoy the ambiance of the tasting room and Star Wars-themed specials. Just put on your favorite Star Wars gear and grab a glass of “The Dark Cider” or a specialty cocktail.

Enjoy a fun, carefree escape with this space-themed paint-and-sip event at Painting With a Twist. Choose to paint a Dark Side jedi with a red lightsaber or a Light Side jedi with a blue one. The $40 ticket includes instruction and materials along with complimentary beverages like beer, wine, seltzer, cider, hard lemonade, coffee, tea, and more. Attendees are also welcome to bring snacks with them.

The Delaware Museum of Nature & Science invites you to explore a world where science and science fiction collide. Learn about robotics with the MOE FTC team 365 and LOAD Robotics, then meet characters from the 501st Legion-Frist State Garrison and Mando Mercs. Participate in a costume contest (for both children and adults), test your reflexes to see if you’re as quick as a jedi, learn the commonalities between quartz and Kyber crystals, and much more.
