May is the month of horses, when some of the most prestigious steeplechase races in the country go down. They begin with the unparalleled Point-to-Point at Winterthur on May 4, which celebrates 36 years. They continue with the Willowdale Steeplechase in Kennett, Pa., on May 11 and the Radnor Hunt Races (the éminence grise, at 84 years) in Malvern, Pa., on May 17, then conclude with the Fair Hill Races in Fair Hill, Md., on May 24. Each race supports a worthy cause. Break out your bonnet, pick your ponies, prepare your picnic, then enjoy a beautiful spring day. The circuit is a tradition.
