Melanie Augustin’s first job working at a retail kiosk may not have prepared her for her role as executive director of Zip Code Wilmington, a nonprofit organization providing software development training programs, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
“A report from the National Center for Women & Information Technology found that although women held 57 percent of professional occupations in the United States in 2016, only 26 percent of computing jobs were held by women,” she notes.
When she’s not overseeing the organization’s strategic plan and financials, building partnerships with community partners, formulating and implementing operating policies, and leading professional development training for students, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children and working out at CoreTen Fitness.
