Get to know the scenic Delaware town by exploring fan-favorite restaurants, historical sites and the Mispillion Riverwalk Park.

Don’t call it a comeback for Milford. The town, which is nestled on the border of Kent and Sussex Counties, suffered a devastating fire in 2003 that destroyed much of its commercial corridor. But in the years following the blaze, revitalization efforts have breathed new life into the town. Today, Milford is one of the fastest growing locations in the state and it’s not difficult to see why. The scenic riverwalk and charming shops and attractions are reason enough to pay this Delaware town a visit.

9:15 a.m.—Coffee time at Dolce Bakery and Coffee Shop
This cozy coffee shop located in Downtown Milford is the perfect spot for a morning cup of joe. Walk into the cheerful café and smell the sweet aromas of fresh brewed coffee and homemade pastries. Dolce Bakery and Coffee Shop stands out against other bakeries because every morning it bakes its bread fresh. Grab a coffee and bagel to go if you’re on the move, but why not sit, sip and enjoy the quaint atmosphere?

10 a.m.—Shop Downtown Milford
Get a little shopping done in downtown Milford, which is brimming with unique, independent shops and boutiques. Lady Maggie’s Boutique, Milford Antiques & Friends, Fur-Baby Boutique and Blooming Boutique are a few small businesses shoppers adore.

11 a.m.—Riverwalk
The Mispillion Riverwalk Park is a beautiful mile-long trail perfect for a walk, run or bike ride. The trail begins at the Silver Lake, cuts through Walnut Street and ends at the Goat Island Nature Area. Throughout the trail you can find beautiful boat sculptures, wildlife and nature landscapes. This park was the first one established by Delaware municipalities and it is the largest in the state.

Noon—Chow down at Arena’s
Arena’s Deli is a Delaware staple known for its standout sandwiches, but one can’t go wrong with anything on the extensive menu. The appetizers and beer selection really shine, too. Be sure to grab an outdoor patio table on the river if you can.

2:30 p.m.—Explore local history at Milford Museum
Whether you’re a Milford local or stopping by for a trip for the day, you’ll want to make a detour to learn more about the town’s fascinating, and often surprising, history.  The museum offers free admission and features both permanent and rotating exhibits on the town’s history, as well as collections from around the state.

3:30 p.m.—Immerse yourself in Milford Arts
Downtown Milford boasts several stunning studios and galleries for visitors to peruse. Mispillion Art League and Gallery 37 showcase Milford’s growing arts and crafts scene. Take an art class at The Mispillion Arts League if creativity is your strong suit, or just peruse the pieces at any and all of these artistic havens.

5:30 p.m.—Brews and food at Mispillion River Brewing
This laid-back brewery is located off the beaten path in an industrial park on the outskirts of town. Due to COVID-19, in-person tours of the facility are canceled, but you can still take a virtual tour. Mispillion loves to experiment with drafts, so you’ll have to keep coming around for more.

8 p.m.—Finish the night with My Sister’s Fault
