If you’re playing host this holiday season, why not wow your guests with a variety of creative cocktails? Feeling a bit shaky about your bartending skills? Then attend Painted Stave Distilling’s Thanksgiving Cocktail Class this Friday, beginning at 7 p.m.
The team at Painted Stave will refer to “Colonial Spirits: A Toast to Our Drunken History,” by Steven Grasse, which presents a historical manifesto on drinking, including 50 colonial era–inspired cocktail recipes.

For example, learn how to make gin swizzle, which dates back as far as the 1700s:
- In a Collins glass filled with ice, combine
- ½ ounce lime juice
- 1 ounce simple syrup
- 1.5 ounces gin
- 1 dash Angostura bitters
- Top with 2 ounces club soda and garnish with lime twist.
Tickets for the class are $30 per person and only for attendees 21 and older. Please have an ID with you upon check in. This event will take place in the distillery’s production space, which can get a bit chilly, so plan your wardrobe accordingly. Be sure to arrange for transportation, as you will be consuming three full cocktails in the course of this class.
