Roller-skating is a timeless pastime and hobby suitable for all ages. Roller rinks are nostalgic and great spots to host parties, meet up with friends and get active even on a rainy day.

The First State is home to three great roller rinks that are suitable for all skill levels. Three may not seem like many, but the good news is they’re spread out throughout the state — one per county — so no matter where you are, there’s a convenient spot to skate.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or lacing up your skates for the first time, here’s where to go roller-skating in Delaware.

Christiana Skating Center

New Castle County

With private party options, a competitive skate team and plenty of other kids’ and educational programs, the Christiana Skating Center is a roller-skating hotspot in New Castle County. This roller rink has it all, from skate rentals to an on-site food court and a small arcade. Plus both the Christiana Skating Centers hosts a STEM educational program for schools, scouts and community groups. With seven different lessons, kids can learn the science that makes a roller skate work, heart and health science, Newton’s laws, the science of light and sound and more. Christiana Skating Center is also the home of the Diamond State Roller Derby, a nonprofit WFTDA league located in the Northern Delaware area.

Mondays and Wednesdays are reserved for private parties, with open skating times throughout the rest of the week. Find the full schedule online.

Dover Skating Center

Dover’s Skating Center also offers plenty of educational opportunities like a travel team and skating lessons. Like the Christiana location, the facility is perfect for a variety of parties from kids’ birthdays to corporate events. The STEM educational program is also available at the Dover location. The Dover Skating Center is home to the SoDel Roller Derby league, formed in 2011.

SkateWorld

Sussex County

This family-owned and -operated skating rink is just a short drive from Delaware’s beach towns in Laurel. With year-round public roller-skating, birthday parties and private events, Sussex County’s only indoor skating center delivers the full experience. Since opening 40 years ago, SkateWorld has provided those in Sussex County with good memories, exercise and fun experiences. Skaters as young as two are welcome to join in on the fun with rental clip-on skates that slip over their shoes. Plus, visitors can get their own skating gear at the Pro Shop.
