The unofficial close of another beautiful Delaware beach season is just around the corner. As we reach the end of August and start looking forward to fall, it’s time to squeeze in that last bit of summer fun. With a few weeks left of the season, here are five things to do at the Delaware beaches before summer ends.
1. Take the Burton’s Island Wildlife Tour
Want to soak up the last few weeks of the summer sunshine? We have you covered! Grab a kayak and paddle through salt marsh trails around a wildlife refuge with Burton’s Island Wildlife Tours. Guided by a certified kayak guide, visitors will experience the tranquility of the marshes and get to know the animals who live there, such as horseshoe crabs, oyster catchers, osprey, skimmers, herons and egrets. This wildlife tour is a great way to familiarize yourself with all the amazing creatures that thrive at the Delaware beaches.

3. Support Great Causes With Races 2 Run
If you’re longing to get a little fun in the sun and give back, Races 2 Run is the perfect way to enjoy the beaches at the end of summer. Teaming up with nonprofit organizations, Races 2 Run not only support causes through a variety of running, walking and multisport events, but also encourages attendees to get out and have fun—even when going out for a walk.
All races and events take place from March to December in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Participate in the Watermelon Run at the end of August or the Summer’s End 5k in Dewey Beach on September 1. Scheduled times and dates are available online.

4. Shop Local Produce at the Rehoboth Beach Farmers’ Market
When you’re in need of fresh produce and groceries at the beaches this summer, look no further than the Rehoboth Beach Farmers’ Market. The farmers’ market offers all patrons the opportunity to find their next favorite dish from local vendors.
The market takes place every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from May to October, rain or shine. Look for the big white tents to scout the location in Grove’s Park, near Lighthouse Circle in downtown Rehoboth.
