Looking for a glimpse of life under the sea? Leave the snorkels and underwater gear at home. The Delaware Children’s Museum has unveiled a new interactive Touch Tank Aquarium exhibit that offers children and their families an opportunity to get up-close and personal with aquatic life. The new exhibit, featuring sharks and rays, was custom-built by Armco Aquatics, a professional aquarium company based in Wilmington. The DCM’s 600-gallon touch tank will serve as the new home for several sharks, rays, and other marine invertebrates such as starfish and sea urchins. Those with an adventurous side can reach into the tank to stroke the animals as they surface, or simply observe the animals underwater while looking through the clear sides of the tank. Sure to become the newest highlight of a visit to the DCM, the Touch Tank Aquarium will bring a new enriching layer of educational opportunities to the museum’s STEAM-based focus (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics).
