A lightweight resin cast of the “Fearless Girl” statue, unveiled on New York City’s Wall Street this summer, will be on private display in Paris on Wednesday, Oct. 11, for an event celebrating International Day of the Girl. Kristen Visbal, the Lewes-based creator of the statue, is participating in a mentoring session and panel discussion for young women ambassadors, held at the Hôtel de Ville on Oct. 11.
With cutting-edge technology, a preservation scan was taken off the Wall Street statue in late June. That digital data was then used to precisely create a miniature 3-D print, which Visbal plans to perfect and launch as a limited-edition item early next year.

A youth-led movement that debuted in 2012, International Day of the Girl grew out of the Because I’m A Girl program launched by Plan International, a humanitarian organization active in more than 70 countries. It cultivates public awareness of children’s and women’s rights as well as gender and educational inequality.
The movement’s goals closely align with those of Visbal’s sculpture: support of gender diversity and equality, equal pay and education for women, and the general well-being and empowerment of women.
