With another novel that will put you on the edge of your seat, local author Michele Chynoweth delights again with “The Runaway Prophet.”
The story introduces us to Rory, the conservative son of an FBI officer who just wants life to remain simple. But when his father assigns Rory the task of delivering a sealed letter to the Las Vegas Sheriff’s department, Rory’s life is turned upside down. Inside the letter details plans by an Islamic State Mafia to uproot the city of Las Vegas with the help of an underground nuclear bomb.
Prepare to be swept up inside this page-turner as Rory attempts to run from the duty that has befallen him, only to find himself in Las Vegas after all. Through one heart-stopping event after another, Rory and a team of investigators battle against the clock to remove the mafia and the dangerous bomb they’ve planted somewhere underground.
The tale is based on Bible’s Book of Jonah. “I fell into this genre of writing modern day stories because I feel like the Old Testament stories are hard to read and God’s message gets lost because people can’t read them. So I want to re-imagine them in a book that people will read that’s fast-paced, romantic, a beach read, but also get that message from God,” Chynoweth says.
“The Runaway Prophet” will be available starting July 5 at all major booksellers. Can’t wait? The e-book version is available now. Morgan James Publishing will donate a portion of the proceeds to Habitat for Humanity.
