You might be asking yourself; how can there be a whole event highlighting garlic? Believe it or not, garlic festivals have become pretty popular throughout the United States, from the Gilroy Garlic Festival in California to the Minnesota Garlic Festival, which awards prizes for largest and smallest heads of garlic.
So, if you’re intrigued, don’t miss the third annual Rehoboth Beach Garlic Fest, which kicks off on Friday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. at Azzurro Italian Oven & Bar. VIP ticket holders receive a VIP scorecard, which gains them admission to the event at 12:30 p.m. The event begins on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Forgotten Mile Ale House (for general admission ticket holders) where your handy scorecard will direct you when and where to go. Feast on garlic galore, sip drink specials and then move to the next location on your map. Eight restaurants are participating and it’s your job to vote for your favorite.
Once you’ve sampled everything, return your scorecard to Azzurro. But don’t run away to brush your teeth or gargle mouthwash, because you will want to stick around for the awards ceremony at 4 p.m. The top three restaurants chosen by festival attendees with the best garlic creations will receive custom trophies created by local artist Angelica Clemmer.
Tickets are $25 each and are available here.
