They’re Good Men, Charlie Brown

Once you hear Guaraldi’s gentle jazz riffs, you know it’s Christmas.

One need only hear Vince Guaraldi’s signature music in “A Charlie Brown Christmas” to know the holidays are coming. Guaraldi, who was already a legend in the jazz world before the Peanuts Christmas show debuted in 1965, created the whimsical compositions that forever link him to Charlie, Lucy, Linus and Snoopy. His music, though far more prolific than most people know, will always be a poignant reminder of the Charlie Brown in all of us.

The Cartoon Christmas Trio, a musical group that performs authentic arrangements of musical selections from Guaraldi’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” is perhaps the best local trio capable of relaying the emotion and soul of Guaraldi’s original trio. Formed in 1995, the trio’s sole purpose was to play music from classic Christmas cartoons. As such, the group performs each song using the exact instrumentation Guaraldi specified in his original compositions (piano, bass, drums).

The trio will be performing at both Iron Hill Brewery Delaware locations throughout December (as well as Pennsylvania locations). All performances will begin at 7 p.m., and run about two hours. In addition to the Charlie Brown music, the trio also will perform other Christmas classics. The music will bring back memories.
