Apple picking is the perfect tradition to mark the start of the fall season. Once you’ve spent a fun day in the orchard picking your own apples, you can enjoy a cup of warm apple cider and indulgent apple pastries from the orchard’s farm store.
No matter where you are in the First State, you’re sure to have options for U-pick apples within convenient driving distance. Whether they’re in Delaware or just over the line in Pennsylvania or Maryland, these orchards are the perfect place to kick off the fall season.
Fifer Orchards
You can’t talk apples in Delaware without talking about Fifer Orchards. The farm has been in operation since 1919 and is a Delaware mainstay for farm-fresh produce. While crisp apples are always available at the farm store, you can pick apples yourself on Fridays and Saturdays through October 19. Take a wagon ride out to the orchard and pick a bag full of apples.
Don’t forget to stop by the farm store for fresh apple cider, apple butter, apple cider donuts, fresh baked pie and more.
