Every morning, Vijaya Rao checks her emails, reads industry news and creates a list of five things she wants to accomplish that day. She takes no days off from this routine either—even on vacation.
Rao created DeliveryCircle, a Newark technology startup focused on same-day delivery services, as an alternative for businesses that are looking for faster delivery options. Before opening the business in 2014, she worked with several Fortune 100 companies in the tech industry. After more than 20 years working for big businesses, Rao decided to be her own boss. She believes the key to balancing personal and professional responsibilities and obligations is prioritization.
“It’s tough to balance all aspects of both on a regular basis, so it’s best to pick priorities for each day and set the goals,” she says.
