We Need a Little Springtime. Right This Very Minute.

Easter. Spring Break. Fun times.

Springing Forth

Staffers at the Delaware Museum of Natural History are as anxious about spring as the rest of us. The museum offers “Spring Into Nature” April 1 and 8. This family event, which breaks out just during spring break, will include puppet shows, crafts, seasonal family activities and live animals.

Kids get to watch newly hatched chicks, create flower and butterfly crafts to take home, and discover cool stuff about bees.

Longing for Longwood

What better place to snub our noses at this past winter than at Longwood Gardens? The Easter Bunny will host a special breakfast on April 3, after which he will guide kids to the Easter egg hunt on the lawn.

If you’d like to hang out after breakfast, Longwood is opening its popular “Nature’s Castles,” a display of three large-scale treehouses staged in settings around the gardens. Its Lookout Loft, an Adirondack-style treehouse in the Forest Walk, is wheelchair-accessible. The Canopy Cathedral, which offers a view of the Italian Water Garden, is a two-story house inspired by a Norwegian church. The Birdhouse at Terrace Woodland provides the best view of Longwood’s landscape.

Now we just have to hope for good weather.
