What to Do at the Beach This Weekend: July 13–17

The beach is alive with the sound of music this weekend, and there’s something for every age group. Tribute performers salute Buddy Holly, Neil Diamond and the King of Pop. In between acts, take a new tour at Dogfish Head, try Funland’s new ride and check out a new candle shop in Lewes.

Milton

Not Fade Away

What: This tribute band plays the tunes of Buddy Holly. Tickets are $15–$20.

Sean Reilly and the Sinatra Centennial Orchestra

What: Old Blue Eyes is back—at least in spirit, thanks to Sean Reilly’s uncannily spot-on performance. Tickets are $20–$35.

Dogfish Head Grain-to-Glass Tour

What: This new tour, which is limited to 20 people, takes guests to typically off-limit locations, including cold storage, the grain handling room and the Steampunk tree house. You must wear closed-toed shoes and long pants. Tickets ($20) can be purchased online.

Lewes

Cinema by the Canal: “Grease”

What: Bring chairs or a cozy blanket and watch Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta strut their stuff. Singalongs are encouraged, so brush up on “Beauty School Dropout.” The event is free.

Angola by the Bay 42nd Annual Craft Show

What: More than 100 artists, including woodworkers and potters, sell their wares.

Sunday Jamz Cruise on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry

What: Continuing through Aug. 27, these roundtrip cruises feature musical performers. The Ginger Band Trio plays this week. Tickets are $19 for adults; $15 for seniors or military members; $9 for children ages 6–13; free for children under 6. Reservations are suggested. Book online.

Mulberry Street Candles

What: This new shop in historic Lewes offers non-toxic, hand-poured soy wax candles in decorative reusable jars.

Ride the SuperFlip 360

What: Funland’s newest ride tells it like it is. Passengers rotate 360 degrees.

When: The rides open at 1 p.m. on most days. Closing time is determined on a daily basis; during peak times, it is usually around 11 p.m.

Bushmaster featuring Gary Brown

What: Bushmaster is a blues-rock power trio.

What: This Grammy-nominated band from Los Angeles hit the big time in the late 1990s with the song “Lit Up.” Tickets are $25–$30.

What: This classic rock band is a favorite in the Delmarva area.

The Church Sisters

What: This free concert features young singers who were born in Virginia’s coal-mining district. Their music has strong hints of bluegrass, gospel and country. Bring your own chair.

Gary Clark Jr.

What: Born in Austin, Texas, Clark is considered a virtuoso guitarist. Tickets are $40–$65; seating is provided.
