WilmFilm Festival is back on the Riverfront. “Movies you missed, movies that matter” will return to the Penn Cinema Riverfront for a third year on April 23-26, with screenings of nearly two dozen films—from indies and docs to comedies and dramas—including several with Delaware connections. “We’re making it easy for Delawareans—and everyone else—to see the films they want to see, all in one place, in a luxurious theater, over a single weekend,” says Barry Schlecker, the owner of Barry’s Events. Barry’s Events, the largest independent event promoter in Delaware, annually presents a series of unique events that are family friendly and attract diverse audiences. “WilmFilm presents movies that matter, films that entertain while delivering a compelling message, and movies you missed, some great works that didn’t catch everyone’s attention when they were released.” The Red Carpet Preview Party happens April 10 at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts. Take a sneak peek at the 20 films on the lineup via continuously looping trailers, including Academy Award winners “Birdman,” “Whiplash” and “Foxcatcher,” plus a collection of “Delaware Shorts” curated by Lewes filmmaker Rob Waters. The party is free. Check www.wilmfilm.com for the complete schedule and tickets. Admission to individual films will be $10. Penn Center Riverfront is at 401 S. Madison St., Wilmington.
