It seems like just yesterday that Wilmington Brew Works first opened its doors in an 11,000-square-foot Spanish-style building in North Wilmington. Wilmington Brew Works is the city’s first production brewery since 1955, and is run by Craig Wensell and a team of four other guys: Derek Berkeley, Keith Hughes, John Fusco and Dan Yopp.
On Aug. 9-10 the brewery will celebrate its first anniversary by throwing a “Beerthday Bacchanalia” bash. The two-day celebration takes place in the taproom, is open to the public and has all the makings of a good party: live music, food, yard games and of course—you guessed it—beer. There are also special perks availible to those who purchase a VIP ticket to the event.
There are 50 VIP tickets available for each night, and each $50 ticket comes with the following:
- A private party from 5-10 p.m. in the Alamo Room with the owners.
- Comped food from WiLDWiCH on Friday night, and The Flying Deutschman on Saturday night (Porkoholics Anonymous BBQ will be serving food during the day on Saturday.)
- A 22-ounce bottle of Jamaican rum barrel-aged Mechanical Dissonance, the brewery’s Imperial Stout.
- Four, 9-ounce pours throughout the evening of exclusive, one-off, beers, with some different brews each night.
- A gold-rimmed “Beerthday Bacchanalia” goblet.
Tickets are only availible to those 21 and older, and can be purchased here. For more information, visit the brewery’s Facebook page.
