WAYMAN FIRE PROTECTION
In the specialty alarm systems category, an Excellence is presented to Wayman Fire Protection for Dover High School. The project was a state-of-the-art fire alarm, CCTV, security, A/V system that was integrated flawlessly into our state’s newest high school.
WOHLSEN CONSTRUCTION
Wohlsen Construction is presented with an Excellence in the GC/CM $5-10M category for the Concord Health Center. The project included both a renovation and addition of a highly specialized Linear Accelerator area. Scheduling and exacting craftsmanship were keys to success.
DELMARVA VETERAN BUILDERS
An Excellence is awarded to Delmarva Veteran Builders for the Wicomico County States Attorney office building located on Main Street in the heart of historic downtown Salisbury, Md. This particular building reconstruction was responsible for sparking the transformation and revitalization of Salisbury’s downtown area.
WOHLSEN CONSTRUCTION
In the GC/CM $15-20M category, Wohlsen Construction is awarded an excellence for the Delaware City DMV project. Through a design/build partnership, extensive site work and stakeholder coordination were necessary to complete the facility with LEED Silver Certification as the goal.
TRI-STATE THE ROOFERS
An Excellence in the category of specialty roofing is awarded to Tri-State The Roofers for the A.I. duPont Nemours Children’s Hospital. The project has a unique state-of-the-art design with large twin towers, two garden roof areas, one being a healing garden with trees, a concrete paver walkway and a water fountain feature.
BPGS
In the GC/CM $10-15M category, the Excellence is presented to BPGS for the JPMorgan Parking Garage. The project consisted of the construction of a new four-story precast parking garage with 705 parking spaces, a single elevator and a rooftop bus shelter for JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A.
A & H METALS
An Excellence is presented to A & H Metals in the specialty ornamental metals category for the Wilmington Public Library. The addition of glass and stainless steel guard railings in the main lobby give a modern touch to this historic library. Precise fabrication and installation were essential while updating the existing 92-year-old stair towers to current building codes.
BANCROFT CONSTRUCTION
The Excellence in the GC/CM $2-5M is awarded to Bancroft Construction for the Axalta North American Headquarters. Bancroft’s collaborative approach ensured this 50,000-square-foot renovation, featuring custom finishes and state-of-the-art technology, was delivered without interruption to the building occupants and was completed within a strict project schedule.
NICKLE ELECTRICAL COMPANIES
In the electrical under $2M, an Excellence is presented to Nickle Electrical Companies for the Delaware City DMV facility. The new DMV is a state-of-the-art facility. Armed with only a 1,500-page RFP, Nickle successfully designed and built the electrical systems for this 48,000-square-foot project serving southern New Castle and Kent counties in Delaware.
EDIS COMPANY
The EDiS Company is awarded an Excellence in the GC/CM $50M and over for Dover High School. Capital School District’s Dover High School is a 312,000-square-foot facility in Dover. This high school is the largest public school project in the state.
CORRADO CONSTRUCTION
Corrado received the Excellence in Site/Civil $2-5M for the University of Delaware’s Academy Street Dining and Residence Halls (ASDR) South Campus Steam and Condensate (SCSC) Utility Project. A record amount of rainfall didn’t deter Corrado from completing the utility install before students returned for fall semester.
SOBIESKI LIFE SAFETY
Sobieski Life Safety is presented an Excellence in the specialty fire sprinkler category. The project upgraded the existing systems with state-of-the-art fire alarm and evacuation equipment, providing Winterthur with reliability and peace of mind knowing that its facilities, rare contents, personnel, and visitors are protected.
NICKLE ELECTRICAL COMPANIES
Nickle Electrical Companies is awarded an Excellence in the electrical under $2M category for the Hologic DET building. Hologic manufactures medical imaging systems for women’s health examinations such as mammograms. The nearly 10,000-square-foot addition doubled product and output at the existing facility with cutting-edge technology.
SERVICE UNLIMITED
In the mechanical under $2M, Service Unlimited Inc. is awarded an Excellence for the Newark Day Nursery. The company was contracted on a design build basis to provide HVAC for Newark Day Nursery’s 16,000-square-foot facility. SUI designed and installed three strategically located Mitsubishi City Multi Systems providing 68.5 tons of simultaneous heating and cooling throughout the facility.
GG+A
GG+A is awarded an Excellence in the GC/CM $5-10M category for Westown Movies. The facility was constructed in seven months on an accelerated schedule using the design-build approach. Full commitment and cooperation from all team members was essential in order to open in time for the blockbuster hit “The Hobbit” last holiday season.
RC FABRICATORS
In the specialty steel fabrication category, the Excellence is awarded to RC Fabricators for the Wilmington Friends School project. The design, fabrication and erection of the Wilmington Friends School Auditorium was a complex challenge. Through focus and determination, all involved with the project made it possible for the design to come to life.
NASON CONSTRUCTION
Nason Construction is awarded the Excellence in the GC/CM $20-50M category for the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution Kitchen Renovation & Addition. The project includes a new 25,000-square-foot addition and 6,350-square-foot renovation to the two-story kitchen facilities that serve 2,000 inmates three meals per day.
RALPH G. DEGLI OBIZZI & SONS
In the mechanical $2-10M, the Excellence is presented to Ralph G. Degli Obizzi & Sons for the Seaford High School project. This facility has one of the most innovative mechanical systems in Delaware. This project uses multiple new technologies to optimize the energy efficiency of the HVAC system.
THE TRI-M GROUP
The Tri-M Group is awarded the Excellence in the electrical $2-10M category for the University of Delaware’s Interdisciplinary Science & Engineering Lab. Tri-M designed, installed, programmed and commissioned the BAS and PLC based toxic gas monitoring systems for the lab, the largest construction project in the school’s history.
A & H METALS
The Excellence in specialty steel fabrication is presented to A & H Metals for the Longwood Gardens Meadow. A& H fabricated and erected a 142-foot-long serpentine bridge over protected wetlands, a 70-foot bridge across a pond and 1,500 linear feet of elevated, winding boardwalk through the woods. Teamwork and coordination was crucial to complete this project on schedule.
EASTERN INDUSTRIAL SERVICES
Eastern Industrial Services is awarded an Excellence in the specialty multiple crafts including insulation and coatings for the Building 3 project at Siegfried. The project included multi-craft services in conjunction with a significant expansion of the facility’s spray-drying capacity. EISI safely performed thermal insulation, scaffolding, coatings, fireproofing and fire-stopping to bring the project in on time and within budget.
TRI-STATE THE ROOFERS
In the specialty roofing category, an Excellence is presented to Tri-State The Roofers for Christiana Care Concord. Its complicated design and rapid schedule to house numerous physician and medical offices, along with multi-million dollar state-of-the-art medical equipment for cancer patient treatments, was extremely challenging.
PASTEL PAINTERS
Pastel Painters is awarded an Excellence in the category of specialty painting and wall covering. The project included 12 individual movie theaters with more than 3,000 yards of vinyl wall covering and acoustical wall carpet. The digital mural consisted of 12 individual pieces, each weighing 60 pounds. It was installed in one day and serves as the showpiece in the main lobby.
