Dedicated to academic excellence, social development, community service and faith reflection, Archmere has been described as “a place that never leaves you.” Valuing community, respect, zeal, reverence and wisdom, the school aims to “cultivate empathetic leaders—young men and women prepared for every good work,” according to the school’s Web site.
Academic excellence is supplemented by diverse extra curricular offerings like fencing, bowling, horticulture club, forensics, tapestry, robotics and National Art Honor Society. Once an all-boys boarding and day school, in 1975 the school became coeducational and boarding ended. Nearly 55 percent of the student body receives financial assistance.
