“We are a good group of people who know how to laugh and have fun while still working extremely hard. Not everything is always roses in what we do, but we draw strength from each other and know that we’re in it together.”
On rewarding accomplishments …
“Each of us is praised constantly for what we do well. We have a great CEO who wants to see each of us succeed, because with our success, so follows the work our organization does. While we have more limited financial resources than a for-profit, we are in a feel-good environment and we are rewarded in other ways. It’s the joy of giving back. We actually get to work in a place where you are giving back to the state and also to other nonprofits.”
On funky, fun stuff …
“We’ve been known to gather in our hallway and have a laugh session about things non-work related. Working downtown, we always can take a walk around, get a snack or a coffee, and come back refreshed. The team also goes out for lunches every now and again.”
On your favorite workplace leader …
“Our president and CEO, Chris Grundner, is a great leader. He’s always encouraging, demands the best from us, and always strives to help us achieve. He has patience, humor and intelligence. He leads by example with a work-life balance, and encourages the same from each of us. I worked for Chris at another organization, and followed him to DANA when the opportunity arose. I wouldn’t want to work for anyone else!”
