Plenty of kids in the neighborhood knew painter William D. White, but when he passed in 1971, his work, including several significant local murals, faded into obscurity. White: Vision and Voice” at the Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover last spring was the first major show of one of Delaware’s best, yet least-known, artists, one who deserves to stand proudly among immortals such as Howard Pyle and Frank Schoon-over.
