Big Sandwiches, Low Prices at Claymont Steak Shop

The Claymont mainstay is so popular among locals and out-of-staters that a second location recently opened in Newark, though the name remains unchanged.

Claymont Steak Shop
By the time Demi Kollias’ uncle left Greece, he’d seen enough of people struggling for food. He vowed to open a restaurant and, when he did, to make sure people got plenty to eat. Since 1966 Claymont Steak Shop has served gut-busting sandwiches stuffed with sliced ribeye and American cheese—always offered at fair prices, no matter how much food costs rise. Kollias took over eight years ago, and her place has been so popular, she opened a second Claymont Steak Shop in Newark to accommodate longtime customers who would drive from as far as Middletown—not to mention regulars from Virginia and Washington, D.C. 526 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, 798-0013, claymontsteakshop.com
