Tearful brides need not worry about running mascara, thanks to extensions that create the look of ultra-long lashes.
“Long eyelashes will never go out of style,” says Michelle Elizabeth of Makeup Artistry by Michelle Elizabeth in Magnolia. “Even women who thought they would never wear false eyelashes love them when they see how beautiful their eyes look.”
Dark liner helps to further define the eyes, but go easy on the shadow to keep the look fresh.
“Brows are very clean, with a nice arch,” she says. “Skin is soft and dewy, very natural.”
Elizabeth uses a slightly darker shade of foundation below the cheekbone, a visual trick to sculpt the face.
“Brides like the illusion of a chiseled cheekbone,” she says. “It also makes a girl look five pounds thinner.”
Because weddings involve lots of smooching, Elizabeth builds layers of color and moisture on the lips, beginning with balm covered with one or two coats of foundation, followed by lipstick—she recommends Dior for its richness—a bit of translucent powder and a touch of gloss.
Fashionable shades for spring are nude with tones of rose or peach.
Two weeks before the wedding, start applying self-tanning lotion to build a healthy glow without the harmful rays associated with tanning beds. Make an appointment for teeth whitening.
“A bit of a tan and nice, white teeth makes everyone look very fit, as though they just got back from a great vacation,” she says.
The finishing touch is pale nails for the bride and her maids, either French manicures or a polish with just a hint of pink.
“I like Bubble Bath by OPI,” Elizabeth says. “It looks great on every skin tone.”
