Celebrate Delaware City Day with Food, Family and Fun

Share

Since 1980, Delaware City Day has been a celebration of the riverfront town’s historic architecture and “small-town America” culture. Experience the 37-year-old tradition this Saturday, which begins at 11 a.m. with a parade in Battery Park. There will be vendors and food trucks all day leading up to the spectacular fireworks show come dusk.

Local restaurants are also joining in on the fun. Lewinsky’s on Clinton will be grilling fresh bratwurst, kielbasa and Hebrew National hot dogs. Wash all that delicious food down with a refreshing beer: Try a Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin, Victory Summer Love or a Blue Earl Honey Suckle Rose. The restaurant will also be having a Scrappy Burger Contest, where eight hungry contestants will compete to see who can eat a brisket burger—topped with Cheez Whiz, scrapple and three beer-battered onion rings—the fastest. The winner gets a $50 Lewinsky’s on Clinton gift card.

Crabby Dicks will have a beer garden as well as a station serving orange and grapefruit crushes. Get a front-row seat to the fireworks by purchasing a ticket to the restaurant’s Land and Sea Buffet ($69 per person), which is served on the deck. Four Play will also be performing on the outside stage beginning at 7 p.m.
