Charles C. Parks, prolific sculptor

According to Charles Parks, “The point is to create symbols that fill a spiritual need in one’s own time.” For more than 55 years, the renowned Mr. Parks has created over 300 pieces that have captivated the hearts and minds of people of all ages. His lifelike figures are inspirational, touching each of us in unique, personal ways. Well before the current rise in attention to the environment, many of Mr. Parks’ works were concerned with the preservation of the Earth. Some years ago, after an inspirational meeting and a simple handshake, Mr. Parks made a prototype that was completed and installed in June outside the Delaware AeroSpace Education Foundation in Smyrna. “Wisdom Begins with Wonder,” five children, now stands on the Earth, a 20-foot sculpture constructed of stainless steel and bronze. It is a significant tribute to a man with so much talent, grace and humility.
